Image Search on Science.gov

Science.gov has a new image search you might want to check out. With it you can quickly find images of animals and plants, weather and space, the earth and the sun, and much more. The information is free and no registration is required. If you're not familiar with Science.gov, it's the federal gateway to more than 42 scientific databases and 200 million pages of science information, and provides access to over 2000 scientific websites from 18 organizations within 14 federal science agencies. Very cool!

Census Data Mapping

Do you like cool maps? Then check out this dynamic one put together by the folks over at the Census Bureau. It shows population change, density, and representative apportionment over time. Data from the 2010 Census should be added by 12/21. Be sure and click around to see all the information!

Winter 2011 Learning Lab

Are you looking to improve your computer and online skills? Then join us in the Library’s Computer Learning Lab! Courses are offered every quarter on a wide variety of subjects, and participating patrons are able to practice hands-on with a dedicated laptop computer (courtesy of the Arcadia Public Library Foundation). Classes are 75-90 minutes in length, have limited enrollment, and certain prerequisites apply. Minimum age is 9th grade. Courses repeat on each of the dates listed below, so pick the session that works for you. And they’re free! Stop by the Information Services Desk or call 626-821-5569 to register. Registration opens on 12/9.
